Feel Lighter: Fall Feldenkrais Series on Head & Neck Support

Organizing the Head and Neck

Our Fall Feldenkrais course Organizing the Head and Neck will explore a less common approach to chronic neck and shoulder pain—one that focuses on how your head and neck are supported from below, by your spine, pelvis, and feet, rather than forcing "good posture".

In this gentle series, we will work with how your head can feel effortlessly suspended from above while building natural, solid support beneath you. Instead of fighting your body or trying too hard to hold yourself up, you’ll learn small, comfortable movements designed to melt away chronic tightness, helping you feel lighter, better supported, and more comfortable in your daily life.

If You’ve Never Joined a Series Before…

Stepping into a group practice for the first time can feel a little unfamiliar, but you’re in good hands. Beyond the movement lessons themselves, you are joining a warm, welcoming group of people who are exploring and learning right alongside you.

ORGANIZING THE HEAD AND NECK

September 20th - November 11th, 2026
Sundays 4pm CST & Wednesdays 6:30pm CST
Full Calendar of Events
Livestream classes will be taught over Zoom
All classes are recorded for self-paced asynchronous learning options.

What We Will Explore:

  • Spinal Support: Learn how to use the subtle space at the top of your spine (the atlas) as a guide for upright support, transforming how you sit, move, and rest without collapsing into your hands or straining your lower back.
  • Dual Directions of Support: Uncover how connecting your head to your pelvis allows your spine to bear your weight naturally, so your neck and shoulder muscles can finally stop overworking.
  • Uncoupling Eye & Neck Movement: Explore how freeing your eyes can release deep-seated muscular tension in the back of your neck.
  • Restoring Spatial Orientation: Reorient yourself to the space around you—both inside and out—so posture becomes a dynamic, effortless response rather than a rigid holding pattern.

Climbing stairs requires a brilliant symphony of balance, strength, and spatial awareness. Over the next five...

In our Feldenkrais classes, we are continuing our "Making it Relevant" theme throughout the summer. We are currently in the heart of Part 1, where we are taking the awareness you cultivate on the mat and applying it to the moments that actually matter in your day-to-day life. So far, we have explored: The Reach Upward: Improving the mechanics of reaching for a heavy ceramic bowl, taking off a sweater, or simply brushing your hair. The Weighted Swing: Generating momentum for the garden...
