🦃 Gratitude and Movement This Thanksgiving

Dearest students,

As we approach Thanksgiving, a time dedicated to all that we are fortunate to have, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for being an integral part of this vibrant learning community.

Your dedication to the practice and your generosity have been instrumental in keeping my small (yes, it's still tiny!) woman owned business alive and vibrant.

The relationships cultivated with you - my students— are the foundation of my teaching. Some of you have been diligently practicing with me for nearly two decades and others have just recently discovered my teaching. To my ultra-long-timers: you know who you are. Your steadfast commitment is genuinely inspiring; you are the bedrock of this community! It is a genuine honor to be a steady presence in your life, supporting you through all of life's unpredictable moments. It brings me great purpose to support you consistently through the inevitable highs and lows.

This year I worked to prioritize taking a 12 day break from my business to attend a silent meditation retreat over the Thanksgiving holiday. It's something I've wanted to do for over 20 years, but I never felt like it was possible to pause life and be completely unplugged from responsibilities for that long. This is why you will see a pause in live classes, until I return in December.

Please do not let this interrupt your weekly routine! It can be easy to lose our footing when schedules change or when the holiday season interrupts our practice schedule. There are so many ways to practice using the technology we now have. I outline five cost free options below.

Looking ahead, I am committed to making your ongoing experience more engaging, enjoyable, and connected through creative offerings. So many of you have grown together, sharing mat space and supportive smiles for years! Your mere presence is a gift to this community, creating an environment where everyone feels safe to learn and grow.

In gratitude,
Sarah

There is a story often told about the anthropologist Margaret Mead. When a student asked her what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture, they expected her to say a clay pot, a fishhook, or a grinding stone. Instead, she reportedly held up a healed femur bone. In the animal kingdom, a broken leg is a death sentence. You cannot run from danger, you cannot get to the river for a drink, and you cannot hunt for food. You are meat for prowling predators. A femur bone that...
